A Little Bug

Tick-tick,
Tock-tock,
Tick-tick,
Tock-tock.

there
up there
⠀⠀⠀⠀on the wall
a little bug

No, grandma.
There's nothing there.

Tick-tick,
Tock-tock,
Tick-tick,
Tock-tock.

I left. Or perhaps I ran.
In my sanctuary there's not a tick
and not a tock.

In the meantime she left as well.
Sometimes I come back here
in silence
and listen.

Tick-tick,
Tock-tock,
Tick-tick,
Tock-tock.

Far too much silence.

I look on the wall and see
a little bug
